This week I chose the word algid. Algid means chilly or cold and it derives from the latin word algidus, which is from algere, meaning “to be cold.” Algid is an adjective and is pronounced as (al’-jid). I chose this word, because soon we will be experiencing algid weather.

This week I chose to describe the word cantankerous. Mainly because I think it is a fun word to use. The word cantankerous describes a stubborn or cranky individual. Cantankerous is also an adjective.
For example,
I ate all of my grandpa’s expensive chocolate, so he is going to be cantankerous for the rest of the day.

The word I chose for this week is tintinnabulation. Tintinnabulation means a tinkling sound, such as the ringing of a bell. The way you can pronounce this word is as tin-tih-nab-yuh-lay-shuhn, and this is also a noun. Tintinnabulation derives from the Latin word tintinnabulum and that means “a bell”.
